Established in 2011 on farmland near the village of Malambwe, a tranquil spot outside Lubumbashi city, The Nakhjavani School is a not-for-profit kindergarten, primary, and secondary school that adheres to - and goes beyond - the national curriculum of the DRC.
With an emphasis on community participation, the school has an active parent body that shapes its development, while the school's teachers and students contribute in turn to the development of the community.
We empower communities to develop and achieve realistic aspirations for their children - which can be anything from helping on the family farm to working abroad.
Our school is a haven of joy, smiles, and laughter. Set in a tranquil oasis of beautiful gardens, we nurture children’s personalities through play and lively social interaction.
We ensure all children receive the personal support they need to succeed in learning, and that every child makes progress, whatever his or her starting point.
We unleash the virtues inherent in every child so that they develop good morals and a spirit of service, through character education and service projects.
I would love to welcome you to our happy school. If you visit the Nakhjavani School, you will immediately feel a sense of peace and joy. Please do come - our children would be delighted to meet you, and our teachers would be happy to show you the skills they have been learning in training!
Mr. AUGUSTIN MWANZA
— Principal, Nakhjavani School
Our early-years children develop foundational literacy and numeracy, as well as social and practical skills, in an atmosphere of fun and interactivity. We supplement the national curriculum with a lesson framework that empowers even the least experienced teachers to facilitate activity-based, collaborative learning.
Our Primary children gain academic knowledge, life skills, and upright moral character. At this formative age, we encourage children’s natural curiosity and creativity to flourish with energetic lessons, group work, and service projects. Children also learn experientially through trips to local places and agricultural projects.
